The mission of MGRF (Marilyn G. Rabb Foundation) is one of commitment to overcoming social and educational barriers and creating innovative programs that positively impact our communities. MGRF is dedicated to expanding and refining educational and health programs; setting new standards for success and well-being.
MGRF is a public 501(c)3 organization dedicated to creating, supporting, and promoting programs and initiatives that improve Chicagoland communities and better the lives of its inhabitants. Specific emphasis is placed on our youth, particularly those in impoverished neighborhoods facing crime, drugs, and violence. We aim to give these young people a fighting chance to make the most of their education and take a stand against an environment that is not of their choosing.
MGRF was created several years ago by workers and executives of several technology companies, including Omicron Technologies, looking for a way to give back to many of the communities that supported them and their businesses. The founding spirit of MGRF placed emphasis on the human aspect of philanthropy and aimed to provide hope to people in need.
Today, MGRF provides not only charitable services but is also involved in innovative efforts targeted at bringing communities together through economic and educational means. It is the foundation's goal to continue to push boundaries and to stretch conceptions of giving, by assisting others and giving without need of return, by remaining committed to action and change, and by seeing the good in others.
The MGR Foundation operates 4 main programs: THINK (The Hope In New Knowledge), which provides tutoring and mentoring to at-risk youth in disadvantaged communities, the Care Team, which organizes and promotes volunteer events as a way to empower and educate individuals and better their community, Murals, an informal arts program aimed at reaching the most troubled of youth, and Growth, which helps to build resources and services designed to empower a community and its people.
