Omicron Selected for EPA ESTE Pilot
Monday 27 February, 2006
Omicron was recently selected to participate in an EPA pilot for tracking hazardous waste across borders. The pilot will test the feasibility of using RFID in tracking truck shipments of drummed hazardous waste. The journey starts at the generator site in the Mexican Border Zone, travels through the Mexican and U.S. border checkpoints, along U.S. highways to the designated receiving facility for recycling or disposal. One scenario, where the material is warehoused in the U.S. border zone before being shipped to the receiving facility, will also be run. Specifications will be developed for the Test Plan in coordination with the participating vendors. Omicron, with our experience in advenced technology and RFID integration, is a perfect partner for this pilot.

CPS Extends OTI Contract to Include Support and Service
Tuesday 31 January, 2006
The Chicago Board of Education has named Omicron the Strategic Sourcing Vendor over a 5-year period for system-wide ID creation, building access, student financial tracking, textbook management, and all needed equipment and supplies. Omicron will assess schools preparedness and establish an individual Building Assessment Plan to insure a smooth transition from current systems to Omicron’s new product line. Omicron’s LSIMS products will no longer be offered as all systems will be transitioned to Verify.

Verify is similar to the LSIMS package currently implemented in many CPS schools, and offers a secure and safe way to provide student ID creation, building access, student financial tracking, and textbook management. The new Verify system also includes maintenance and yearly licensing agreements.
